This seems to have changed since earlier versions of Firefox. To disable the annoying-as-hell “This page needs additional plugins to display properly” dialog box, do the following:

1. Open new tab and go to about:config
2. Search for “plugins” without quotes
3. Change “plugins.hide_infobar_for_missing_plugin” to true
4. Restart Firefox
5. Yell obscenities in Adobe’s general direction for not having a 64-bit Flash plugin

I know there are ways around number 5, but I choose to ignore them.
